Find out about restoration on the Wilson River

NORTH COAST CHAPTER, ASSOCIATION OF NORTHWEST STEELHEADERS
APRIL MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
Our April meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday April 9th at the ODFW office meeting room at 4909 Third Street Tillamook --just East of the fairgrounds.
Last months meeting was rather poorly attended but was a lively and informative discussion concerning possibilities and probabilities of the soon to be decided salmon regulations for ocean, river, and bay salmon fisheries. A greatly expanded ocean Coho season in the summer will be somewhat offset by probable severe restrictions on Chinook harvest. We are likely going to see salmon restrictions in the bays similar to last season but some relaxation of Coho restrictions due to good expected numbers of both wild and hatchery coos. There even may possibly be some open season on Nehalem Bay for wild coos.
We also discussed the five upcoming youth fishing events occurring from late April through late June in our geographical area. Some events could use some volunteers to assist ODFW employees. We also discussed the possibility of a chapter project to improve the driveway drainage and cleaning the access roads at the Siskeyville boat ramp. This will be discussed further .
Our guest speaker will be Clyde Zeller of Oregon Dept. of Forestry who will give a power point presentation on the Wilson River Watershed Restoration Project now underway between mileposts 14-29 which, although restricting some access mostly used by littering campers, includes riparian rehabilitation and planting of trees.
We also are supposed to have annual chapter elections in April. At present we have some doubling up of duties so it would be great to have some members run for offices.
We plan to have coffee, maybe some cookies, and a good door prize drawing so COME TO THE MEETING
Bob Thurman, President
Bill Hedlund, Vice President & Treasurer
