Demeter Design provides water quality and habitat assessments, restoration planning and implementation, and GIS services throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. This blog will allow people working in the field of habitat restoration to follow our work and comment on our reports, methods, and projects.
Hey All,
ReplyDeleteWe have started a forum for groups like watershed councils, land conservancies, other local consultants to post information about up coming events (volunteer events, jobs needed, on-going projects, etc.). We are hoping that this site can be a common place that all events are posted for the coast (in addition to all the events posted on individual websites). There is no criteria (other than not being mean or rude) on what can be posted but people do have to sign-up to comment, not to see it.
If anyone has any announcements, I was hoping you could start the blog by posting them on the blog site that I am sending out after this email.
Just to let you all know, Lindsay and I are considering turning Demeter Design into a non-profit. As part of that process, I thought I could use the blog to catalog how we are doing that (I understand it helps when you are going through the IRS process?). What I was hoping to get from you all are your thoughts/questions/suggestions on the non-profit decision. As we move through the works I will update* (I can't actually bring myself to do it regularly so it might only happen once every few months...) you guys on how it is going. I am hoping that once people actually comment and this becomes a real forum and not just me typing things that we (you all and myself) could invite more people...etc.
Also, most of you know at least one other person on the small email list I started with but for those of you who don't know each other, please introduce your group/company/self and say hi to someone you don't know :) Please!
I haven't tried signing in outside of the control panel so I was also hoping you guys could tell me if the blog site works and what you think (it is a really simple site, no designs and such).
Cheers and thanks for your help!
Cara
Very nice idea, Cara, and I look forward to some great discussions.
